Greetings noble knights, daring damsel's and beautiful baby dragons,
Yet another month hath pasted us by-eth, and with this measure of days - an update! with much requested tidings.
Progress progresses, obviously at a pace that is somewhat frustrating to all concerned, but progress no less.
As detailed in the last update, attempts were being made to bring the shipping costs down to a more manageable volume via Amazon fulfillment. Turns out the only way to make that viable is shipping the game via sea freight to the distribution centers, which would have added another 90 days to the timeline.
Obviously unacceptable, so we are living with the reality that 62% of the money raised will go to sending the product, and the days of offering free shipping with games appear to be behind us :(
Additional money has been scrounged and was wired this week and the freight booked, most deliveries are quoting 20-30 days, nothing over 30. We are still waiting on the tracking details, until they send that through we can only assume they are still in the warehouse.
Not much more we can add without entering the realm of speculation.
In the meantime...
Alex has cleverly added the Damsel's Tale to Tabletop Simulator so you can have some Knight v Dragon warm ups while the shipping does it's thing. You can access it via Steam here
Additionally Alex has another 2 player game in the works "there be no Witches here", also on TTS via Steam:
Speaking of side projects, Ben has a new family card game released under Summit Drive Games called "Fairy, Unicorn, Mermaid, Princess, Kitten". It's coming to Kickstarter August 11 and will not have free shipping. Check out all things F.U.M.P.K on the website and Facebook page
We can say with confidence this time that the next you will hear from us will be notification of shipping!
Pinky swear.
Shout out to Erica Rozzero and her epic ode to packages unforthcoming. From the comments:
The Daughter's Tale:
There she was, the girl who backed The Damsel's Take, patiently waiting for her game to arrive. But than, what did appear?? An email, stating that a package was coming! It was from a carrier that the maiden did not typically receive packages from...it said it was from Amazon, but her Amazon account said no orders were expected that day. She had had Kickstarter a fulfilled by Amazon before. The package was 3 pounds...did she dare to hope, to dream, to wish? She did. The fateful day arrived. The tracking said the package would arrive between 1030-1430. She worked from home, waiting for the fatefull sound of her trusty dog, barking and growling like a rabid animal, to announce the time of delivery. 1030 came, then 1130, 1230, 1330,1430...but not one peep did her lunatic dog make. There was no update on the tracking. She thought the package had been lost! But lo, at 1830 the announcemental barking did commence! The young hero dashed to the door (after waiting for the delivery man to recede so that he would not have to look upon the angry dog face of one protecting his house from the evil box) and gazed excitedly at the box on the stoop. She rushed it inside and pulled it open! Was it her treasure? Alas, it was not. It was shoes, that her father had ordered and sent to her address, for her parents were currently sailing home and has no address of their own, but that is a tale for another day. And so the daughter lamented, for instead of The Damsel's Take, she received shoes that were to big for her to wear, and smelled most unpleasantly new...only the delivery of The Damsel's Take can mend her tended heart. Please take mercy on her and provide a short update! Hear her cry and give her tracking information!
The end.
I'm not sure why it's the Damsel's Take but it will no doubt strike a chord!
Lot's of Love
